Our Curriculum and the 5 I’s

Our curriculum is built on the belief that every child is capable, curious and full of potential. We provide rich, meaningful experiences that nurture the whole child and support them to become confident, motivated learners. Our 5 I’s — Individual, Inspired, Imaginative, Independent and Inquisitive — shape everything we do, ensuring our provision is ambitious, child‑centred and developmentally appropriate.

Our curriculum | Little Pals Nursery

Individual

We recognise that every child is unique, with their own interests, strengths and ways of learning. Our curriculum is tailored to meet each child’s developmental stage, ensuring they receive the right level of challenge and support. Practitioners use careful observation and responsive planning to build on what each child already knows and can do, creating personalised learning journeys that celebrate progress and achievement.

Inspired

We aim to inspire children through engaging experiences, high‑quality interactions and a stimulating environment. Our curriculum draws on children’s fascinations, real‑life experiences and the world around them. Practitioners introduce new ideas, vocabulary and concepts in meaningful ways, sparking curiosity and encouraging children to explore, question and think deeply.

Imaginative

Creativity sits at the heart of our approach. We provide open‑ended resources, rich storytelling, expressive arts and opportunities for children to experiment, invent and represent their ideas. Our imaginative curriculum encourages children to think creatively, solve problems and express themselves with confidence. We value the process of learning as much as the outcome.

Independent

We support children to develop independence in their thinking, actions and decision‑making. Our environment is designed to promote autonomy, with accessible resources and routines that empower children to take ownership of their learning. Practitioners scaffold skills such as self‑care, perseverance, turn‑taking and problem‑solving, helping children build resilience and confidence in their abilities.

Inquisitive

We nurture children’s natural curiosity by encouraging them to ask questions, investigate and explore. Our curriculum provides opportunities for hands‑on discovery, experimentation and critical thinking. Practitioners model curiosity, introduce new challenges and support children to make connections in their learning. We want children to develop a lifelong love of learning and a desire to understand the world around them.
